Yesterdays evening trip was very good with all fares limiting
out on porgies off Mt Sinai. We also chunked a few bluefish and
short bass on bunker.
Today's trip saw some very good porgy fishing again off Mt Sinai
along with some bluefish which were jigged off Old Field Point.
The past week saw some mixed results diamond jigging. A few
trips saw some goods catches of mainly bluefish and a few bass
at the middle and Cranes but other days the fish were hard to
come by. Some days are great, some days are slow.
There have been some huge porgies fishing the deeper water 60-80
feet with some fish close to 3 lbs along with some nice sea
bass. Connecticut is now open which will give a lot more options
for bottom fishing.
Sailing two combo trips daily.

Great day today!
Started the day off with a nice catch of porgies off Mt Misery.
Once the outgoing tide set up we switched to diamond jigging and
bailed the striped bass and bluefish! Everyone caught a load of
fish and then some. Tons of blues up to 10 lbs and a nice mix of
Striped bass for an added bonus. Biggest bass was 23 lbs caught
by Chief Mate Phil.
Also made one quick drop in deeper water for a few big 2+lb
porgies to end the day.
Due to the fine diamond jigging of the past few days we will now
be running two combo trips daily for Striped Bass, Bluefish,
Porgies and Sea bass

Very good the last
few days both on the blues and Porgies..
Thursday saw some good action on the blues North of the lighthouse and
then a great drop on big porgies to end the trip with most limiting out.
Friday's trip was looking a little slow on the bottom fishing with the
hard tide but luckily the bluefishing was fantastic in the afternoon to
end the trip. We didn't sail yesterday during the day but the weather
cleared up nicley for the evening and the jigging was awesome! Blues
were feasting on the big butterfish in the middle and some drifts lasted
up to 20 minutes! Great night.

The fluke bite remains good in
our area. It has been a little slower the past two days with
the hard moon current but we are still managing some decent
catches by days end.
Straight bait rigs with squid and spearing are catching the
best by far. Yesterday saw a decent pick even on the hard tide
with several fares catching their limit up to 5.5 lbs. Totaled
30 keepers/150 shorts for the half day.
The porgies have finally started to settle in on the rocky
bottom. We had one decent drop to start the day yesterday but
the bite didnt last too long and we decided to switch to
fluke. Several boats who stayed with it though had great
catches by days end. Also, some real nice sea bass have been
in the mix. |
