Hello to you all! I hope this message finds you well after braving a long winter. The boat is all ready to go, the sun is finally shining, the water has warmed up several degrees this week...it's time to go fishing! We will start our season this Saturday, April 24 for blackfish. With the water temp now around the mid 40's, we should definitely start to see some very good blackfishing in the upcoming weeks. Last year, the best spring fishing was when the water temp was in the high 40's, which should not be too long from now. Ill keep you posted so you don't miss the spring run! After all, its a long wait until the fall when the blackfish appear again. I don't know about you, but I certainly want to get in my blackfishing fix now to hold me over till October. I'm sure you all do too! Give a call if you would like to join us. Hope to see you soon.

April 24, 2004 Opening Day !!!!
It was a good start to the blackfish season today. Fishing was slow on the first two drops but as the water warmed up a bit on the last of the ebb the bite turned on. We ended the day with over 50 keepers and lots of shorts. Nothing huge but plenty of action. The water was 45-48 degrees which is still a bit cold. With a few more degrees the blackfishing should get even better hopefully within the next week.

Good day blackfishing today. 11 fares had 60 keepers. Both crabs and clams worked well. High hook was Artie Handel with 8 keepers. Fish bite best in the morning on the ebb tide.
Beautiful weather finally made for an enjoyable day of blackfishing.

Thursday was a decent days blackfishing as we ended the day with 55 keepers to 6 lbs. Tried one drop in shallower water, 45 ft, but no life there yet. The fish are still in the deep and just beginning now to move inshore. Today was work and fishing was a little slower though we still managed 40 keepers with some nice fish up to 6.5 lbs. Man I hope we do better than that for the Noreast trip coming up or else we are in trouble! I'll never hear the end of it. Desmond

Blackfishing was very good today. It had been slow for the past few trips around the moon but really improved today. Lots of action and shorts and plenty of keepers in the mix. 7 fares had 37 keepers to 5 lbs. Bill Scotti and Bill Jr led the way with 15 keepers. Almost everything was caught on clams.
Unfortunatly, tomorrow looks like a blow out with the NE winds but hopefully the good bite continues through next week.

Blackfish
Very good day today! Almost everyone managed at least 5 keepers. Many had more. John Briciana led the way catching his limit of 10. Ray Leung also had his limit. Fish ranged from 3-7 lbs today almost all caught on clams. We will continue to blackfish for as long as the this bite continues, hopefully through next week. Give a call and we will keep you updated.

Just a reminder: we have moved from Mt Sinai Harbor to Port Jefferson. We are now located on the west side of the Town marina near the Osprey. The new directions are up on the web site if you need them.

Fluking is picking up in our area. Tons of bait around. We had some nice fish today up to 7 lbs but no great numbers yet. Should be real good though any day now. Porgies are everywhere. Caught and released a few hundred of them today while fluke fishing. too bad we cant keep them for a few more weeks. Looking forward to some fine fishing in the upcoming weeks.

Fluking has really picked up in our area the last few days. Fish have moved up on the shoals of B11 and B9.
Thursday evenings trip saw a very good catch of fluke with most having no problem landing their limits and releasing many more. Last hour of the incoming was best and most fish were caught on spearing and teasers.
Should be a few good weeks of fluking ahead. We will be sailing two trips daily, 7am and again at 4:30pm. When the bass show up better will will also try for them when the conditions are right.

Very good day today fishing with Captain Rick of the Perfect Catch.
Excellent fluke bite off Port Jeff on the last of the incoming. Then we chunked some nice bass to twenty pounds and released many others. Excellent bite for two hours on the ebb before we decided to call it a day.
We will be sailing fluke/bass combos everyday. Give a call for more info.

The fluke fishing was very slow on Saturday, but really picked up the last two days. Most fares have caught their limits on the last several trips and many of the fish have been good size. Spearing and pink teasers have been the most effective.
Wednesday we will begin fluke/porgy and sea bass combo. The porgies are stacked up off the beaches right now and we look forward some great fishing. If the conditions allow, we will also continue to fish for striped bass to add to the mix.

Awesome day today! Full limit of Porgies + full limit of Fluke!
Started the day off Rocky point. Porgies were a little scattered with all the bluefish around. But once we got away from the bluefish it was a bail job with all fares easily limiting out within a half hour on big porgies. Many of the porgies were 14-17 inches. No need to measure these fish!
After everyone had their fill, we switched over to fluke. One drift was all it took to limit out on fish to 4 lbs! Bucktails were by far the best. Threw many keepers back before calling it a day. All the fluke were full of sand eels so it looks like they are finally on the feed.
We will be sailing 2 combo trips daily. The great fishing should continue hopefully for a few more weeks. Hope to see you all soon!

Awesome fishing right now! Bail job on both fluke and porgies close to home. Bucktails and bullets are working great on the fluke. Big 14-17 inch scup on clams. Limits are not a problem.
Sailing two trips daily:
7am-2 and 4:30pm to 8:30pm

Excellent fishing for both fluke and Porgies. The fluke bite has been great around the the beginning of the ebb and is decent the rest of the time fishing anywhere from cedar beach to B11. We fished sw of B11 on the incoming today and had a good pick of fluke mostly on bait and teasers despite the miserable conditions and strong wind.
Porgy fishing continues to be a bail job. One drop was all it took for all fares to easily limit out on big scup today.
Sailing two combo trips daily: 7am-2 and 4:30pm-8:30

Thursday - June 24, 2004
The fluke/bottom fishing combos have been excellent the past few days. The day trip yesterday saw a full limit of fluke for 12 fares. Nothing big but plenty of action. We had one good shot at the porgies but the bite died when we lost the tide so we decided to stay with the fluke. The evening trip saw a decent pick of fluke off cedar beach to start the trip and then an all out slaughter on big scup off Rocky Point. Today was a one drop bail on the scup to 18 inches off Mt Sinai to start the day. After everyone had their limit we switched to fluke had a very good pick off Miller place with many fares landing their limit. Few decent fish 4-5 lbs. All in all a very good day.

The fluke bite has been very consistent still off B11 to Rocky Point. Today 11 anglers had 27 keepers with a few nice ones to 6 lbs and well over 100 shorts off Mt Sinai. Straight bait rigs have produced the best the past few days. We had similar results over the weekend.
The porgy bite has been a little tough the past few days as the fish are done spawning and have been on the move. But this morning we did have one good drop off the beach to start the day which is an encouraging sign. They have also started to settle in off Old Field and Cranes along with some real nice sea bass. It should get very good again any day now.

July 3, 2004
The fluke bite remains good in our area. It has been a little slower the past two days with the hard moon current but we are still managing some decent catches by days end. Straight bait rigs with squid and spearing are catching the best by far. Yesterday saw a decent pick even on the hard tide with several fares catching their limit up to 5.5 lbs. Totaled 30 keepers/150 shorts for the half day.
The porgies have finally started to settle in on the rocky bottom. We had one decent drop to start the day yesterday but the bite didnt last too long and we decided to switch to fluke. Several boats who stayed with it though had great catches by days end. Also, some real nice sea bass have been in the mix.

July 8, 2004
The evening porgie bite has been a BAIL JOB the last two nights and limits were not a problem on nice sized scup. Fishing shallow with light tackle. Also many small bluefish and some nice sea bass in the mix.
The day bottom fishing the last few days ranged from excellent to just a pick fishing anywhere from Cranes to Rocky point. With the lighter tides this week, the day should improve.
The day fluke bite slowed off the water tower, though yesterday there was a ton of action off B11 with enough keepers to keep it interesting.

Great day today!
Started the day off with a nice catch of porgies off Mt Misery.
Once the outgoing tide set up we switched to diamond jigging and bailed the striped bass and bluefish! Everyone caught a load of fish and then some. Tons of blues up to 10 lbs and a nice mix of Striped bass for an added bonus. Biggest bass was 23 lbs caught by Chief Mate Phil.
Also made one quick drop in deeper water for a few big 2+lb porgies to end the day.
Due to the fine diamond jigging of the past few days we will now be running two combo trips daily for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Porgies and Sea bass
Give a call for more details.

Yesterdays evening trip was very good with all fares limiting out on porgies off Mt Sinai. We also chunked a few bluefish and short bass on bunker.
Todays trip saw some very good porgy fishing again off Mt Sinai along with some bluefish which were jigged off Old Field Point.
The past week saw some mixed results diamond jigging. A few trips saw some goods catches of mainly bluefish and a few bass at the middle and Cranes but other days the fish were hard to come by. Some days are great, some days are slow.
There have been some huge porgies fishing the deeper water 60-80 feet with some fish close to 3 lbs along with some nice sea bass. Connecticut is now open which will give alot more options for bottom fishing.
Sailing two combo trips daily.

The past few days have seen some awesome fishing!
Good catch of blues with a few bass in the mix out at the middle again on the day trip.
The evening trip was an all out slaughter also in the middle. All you want. Everyone limited.
Still some Big porgies in the deep water though with the bass and bluefishing so good, we have not done as much bottom fishing recently.
The bluefish are everywhere right now, fish on the surface, even some huge schools in the deep water. Tons of butterfish and rain bait in the area. Lets hope they stick around.

Another great jigging trip last night. Middle grounds was the spot. Lots of bass in the mix last night, both shorts and keepers plus all the blues you wanted with some bigger fish over 10 lbs. Hopefully the great fishing will continue after this blow moves through.

Awesome diamond jigging trip again last night. The hard north wind had all the bait pushed up off Port Jefferson. It was a massacre. Acres and acres of fish and birds working. A beautiful sight!
We did not sail today due to the poor conditions but look forward to getting out there again tonight.

Monday's day trip was decent. No bail job like the past few days but some managed their limit of blues on the day. The evening trip was great though! Awesome jigging on some huge piles of blues in the deep water. To top it off, the porgy bite was very good on some real big scup. A great night.
Tuesday was an all around great day. excellent catch of big porgies to over 2 lbs. Some had their limit on only one drop. Excellent jigging with all the blues you wanted. Great day.
We didn't sail today because of the weather :( Try again tomorrow.
